1,600-year-old tunnel mystery under Hagia Sophia solved
Turkish Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy confirmed the existence of an extensive underground passage beneath the Hagia Sophia in Istanbul, dispelling an urban myth. The minister reported tunnel sections with a total length of approximately 9 kilometers. Work on cleaning and restoration is already underway.
