100 years of Pantelis Mechanikos: Cyprus's significant poet
July 30 marked the hundredth anniversary of the birth of Pantelis Mechanikos (1926-1979), one of the most important poets of Cyprus. Despite his enormous influence on modern Cypriot poetry, his name is not as prominent today as one might expect given his significance to the literary collective memory.
