2,600-year-old amphora with child remains found in Eleusis
A monumental Proto-Attic amphora from the 7th century B.C. (670–650 B.C.) was discovered during excavations in Eleusis and contains the mortal remains of a ten-year-old child. The 1.42-meter-high amphora is the largest vessel of its kind ever found and poses puzzles for archaeologists regarding its original use and significance.
