52nd anniversary of Turkish invasion: international reactions
Cyprus commemorates the 52nd anniversary of the Turkish invasion on July 20, 1974, which caused massive population displacements and geopolitical realignments. Greece declared its willingness to contribute to a solution of the Cyprus problem. Turkey emphasized that its actions were justified by the 1960 Treaty of Guarantee. Celebrations took place in the occupied territories with a military parade attended by Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz.
