62,771 Cypriot borrowers trapped in debt management companies
According to data from the Central Bank of Cyprus for the second quarter of 2026, over 62,000 borrowers are in financial distress as their debts have been transferred to credit acquisition companies (EVPs) operating outside the banking system. This demonstrates the scale of private debt in Cypriot society.
