7,000-year-old DNA from Sahara reveals unknown human lineage
Researchers have deciphered ancient genomes from two women buried approximately 7,000 years ago in the Green Sahara and discovered a previously unknown human lineage. The study, led by Nada Salem from the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology in Germany, was published in Nature. The results show that this population remained highly isolated over thousands of years.
