70 Years Ago: Black May 1956 in Greece
On the 70th anniversary, student protests in Athens, Thessaloniki and other Greek cities are commemorated, which broke out in 1956 following the expulsion of Archbishop Makarios and the execution of two EOKA fighters by the British. These events marked an important moment of resistance against British occupation of Cyprus.
