Agricultural Associations Call for Relaxation of EU Animal Disease Protocol
Four Cypriot agricultural organizations have issued a joint letter to President Nikos Christodoulides calling for discussion on relaxing the EU protocol for animal disease control measures. The organizations warn that the current approach could destroy the entire livestock sector, especially after the animal disease spread from Larnaca to southern regions. The matter is to be raised at the EU leaders' summit on April 23-24, 2026 in Cyprus.
