Amnesty International Condemns El Salvador Prison Deaths
Amnesty International reports at least 470 deaths in El Salvador's prisons since the declaration of a state of emergency in 2022 and over 90,000 arbitrary arrests. The organization characterizes the situation as possible crimes against humanity, as most of the deceased had not been convicted and no deaths have been investigated.
