Ancient Apes as Evidence of Bronze Age Trade
Ancient frescoes of apes on the Greek island of Santorini suggest that Europe and South Asia had trade contacts approximately 3,600 years ago. The blue apes in the wall paintings of Akrotiri are among many animals in ancient frescoes that point to surprisingly extensive trade networks in the Bronze Age. The discovery sheds new light on connections between early cultures.
