Ancient astronomer Seleucus defended heliocentrism
Seleucus of Seleucia was a Hellenistic astronomer, mathematician, and physicist from Seleucia on the Tigris, known for his defense of the heliocentric theory of Aristarchus of Samos and his studies on the causes of tides. Although his original works have not been preserved, his contributions are referenced by later ancient authors.
