Ancient Athens: Forgotten 2,500-year-old city wall discovered
In ancient Athens, a monumental defensive wall approximately 4.5 kilometers long existed, extending between Mount Aigaleo and the Parnitha mountain range. This structure was built during the Peloponnesian War (431-404 B.C.) to prevent raids through the passage between the two mountains. The historical structure is considered the Greek equivalent of the Great Wall of China.
