Ancient Athens: Kings in power longer than previously thought
New scientific findings suggest that ancient Athens, contrary to historical tradition, did not transition from a monarchy to an archon republic in the 11th century BC, but rather in the 8th or even 7th century BC. Traditional historiography must thus be partially corrected.
