Ancient Greek General Archytas as Founder of Mathematical Mechanics
The article honors Archytas of Tarentum (circa 435 B.C.), an ancient Greek polymath who served as both a military general and strategist as well as a pioneer in geometry, physics, astronomy, and music. As a friend of Plato, Archytas made significant contributions to the development of mathematical mechanics and is regarded as one of the brilliant minds of ancient Greece.
