Ancient Greek Mosaic Discovered in Turkey
Archaeologists have discovered a spectacular 1,800-year-old mosaic in the ancient city of Zile in the Turkish province of Tokat, demonstrating the enduring influence of Greek culture in the Roman East. The floor mosaic bears a remarkable inscription in Ancient Greek with the word "ΤΡΥΦΗ" (Tryphe), which means luxury and grandeur. The find was made during a rescue excavation.
