Ancient shipwrecks reveal Iron Age trade network
An ancient shipwreck discovered off the Israeli coast in the Dor Lagoon area contained a rare cargo of raw iron blocks from approximately 2,600 years ago. The find demonstrates how raw iron trade functioned during the Iron Age in the eastern Mediterranean and provides insights into the trade routes and practices of that time.
