Ancient Verses of Philosopher Empedocles Discovered in Cairo
Researchers have identified 30 previously unpublished verses of the ancient Greek philosopher Empedocles in a papyrus fragment approximately 2,000 years old in Cairo. The fragment was found in the archives of the French Institute for Oriental Studies and provides the first direct access to the philosopher's original writings. The discovery was made by papyrologist Nathan Carlig and his team and could enable new insights into Empedocles' thinking and work.
