Archaeological Study: Humans Built Stone Tools 220,000 Years Ago
An international research group from the University of Tübingen has found evidence that humans deliberately quarried stone and used it for tool-making as far back as 220,000 years ago – significantly earlier than previously assumed. The findings come from the Jojosi excavation site in South Africa and were published in the journal Nature Communications. This discovery sheds new light on the cognitive abilities and craftsmanship techniques of our early ancestors.
