Archaeologists Discover Equinox Alignments at Mexican Ruins
Researchers from the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH) have demonstrated that the urban planning of Cuicuilco, one of the oldest settlements in present-day Mexico City, followed astronomical alignments. The site was oriented toward the sunrise over the Cerro Papayo to the east during the equinox mornings, indicating deliberate astronomical planning.
