Archaeology: Scandinavia's oldest ship burial discovered in Norway
Archaeologists uncovered one of Scandinavia's oldest ship burials on the Norwegian island of Leka and published findings in the journal Antiquity. The burial mound Herlaugshaugen dates to around 700 CE and contradicts previous assumptions about the origins of monumental maritime burial practices in Scandinavia.
