The 20th Asian Games opened in Nagoya with a spectacular opening ceremony featuring dance and fireworks, after preparations were disrupted by operational errors and logistical problems. Five years after the Tokyo 2021 Olympic Games, which took place without spectators due to Covid restrictions, Japan was now able to invite fans back to Mizuho Park Athletic Stadium.
