Assad's cousin sentenced to death – first physical court appearance
The Fourth Criminal Court of Damascus sentenced Wassim al-Assad, cousin of ousted Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, to death. He was found guilty of committing crimes during the nearly 14-year war, including murder and torture. This is the first time a family member has been tried with physical presence in court.
