Asylum applicant arrivals down 92%
Arrivals of asylum applicants in the first half of 2026 have decreased by 92% compared to 2022, while a total of approximately 35,000 third-country nationals have left the country since the government took office. Following the regime change in Syria, an additional 5,200 Syrian citizens have voluntarily left the island, according to the Migration Under-Secretary who informed parliament's interior committee.
