Attack on lawyer and allegations against senior justice officials
A lawyer from the Cypriot justice section was attacked early in the morning by a defendant after the court handed down a conviction against him. Attorney General Giorgos Savvidis visited the injured lawyer at a private hospital in Limassol and expressed concern about the state of society. In parallel, law professors are calling for an international investigation into serious allegations by Makarios Drousiotis against Justice Minister Costas Fytiris and other senior officials; the Justice Ministry has committed to bringing the investigation before the Council of Ministers.
