Audit Office Uncovers Deficiencies in Social Benefits System
An audit by the Audit Office uncovered extensive weaknesses in the administration of social benefits by the deputy Welfare Ministry. The examination covering 2022 and 2023 identified systemic failures leading to delays, overpayments and benefits to ineligible persons, as well as 'ineffective control mechanisms'. The report calls for improvements in the governance of the social benefits system.
