Bird songs could have influenced Egyptian hieroglyphics
A new work by Egyptologist Ludwig Morenz from the University of Bonn suggests that bird songs may have influenced the development of Egyptian hieroglyphics more than previously assumed. Morenz argues that some of the earliest hieroglyphic characters were not merely visual symbols, but also represented sound imitations of birds and other animals.
