Britain rejects negotiations over military bases
British Defence Minister Al Carns made it unmistakably clear in an interview with The Telegraph that sovereignty over the military bases Akrotiri and Dekelia will not be subject to negotiations with the Cypriot government. Britain considers this matter non-negotiable and maintains a clear position, as will become evident in upcoming talks with Nicosia.
