Central Bank tightens licensing procedures for payment service providers
The Central Bank of Cyprus is introducing a revised licensing procedure for electronic money institutions and payment institutions as of August 3, 2026. The new procedure includes a pre-assessment phase before official application submission and increases fees up to 15,000 euros. The changes are part of a comprehensive strategy for regulating and supervising the sector.
