Council of Europe Calls on Israel to Withdraw Death Penalty Extension
Secretary General Alain Berset of the Council of Europe has called on Israel to abandon its bill to expand the death penalty. The Council of Europe rejects the death penalty everywhere and under all circumstances. According to Berset, the texts currently being discussed in the Knesset would represent a serious setback and contradict international human rights standards.
