Court Increases Compensation for Expropriated Land from 50€ to 53,000€
The District Court of Larnaca awarded property owners compensation of 53,000 euros after the Land Registry and Survey Department had originally offered only 50 euros for their expropriated 806 square meter property. The expropriation took place in 2014 for the creation of an industrial and energy zone as well as a road connection. The ruling shows significant discrepancies in compensation procedures.
