Critical Decisions on Halloumi Protected Status Pending
Cyprus's Ministry of Agriculture is under time pressure and must make critical decisions to preserve Halloumi as a protected designation of origin (PDO). Two scenarios are being examined: changing the designation of origin or increasing the local content share to 50 percent. Years of delays by previous governments are currently jeopardizing the protected status.
