Cypriot Bank Deposit Rates Below Eurozone Average
According to the Central Bank of Cyprus, lending rates in July were in line with the eurozone median, while deposit rates were the lowest in the entire eurozone. The Central Bank attributes the divergence in deposit rates to the high liquidity of Cypriot banks. This shows a weakness in returns for savers in Cyprus.
