Cypriot health insurance makes quick decisions on foreign treatment
The Cypriot health insurance organization (HIO) has approved 889 of 1,234 applications for foreign treatment since taking over the program in October 2025, corresponding to an approval rate of 72%. In life-threatening cases, HIO decides on average within 42 minutes. HIO Director Monika Kyriakou shared this information with the parliamentary health committee.
