Cypriot national debt halved – opportunity or statistic?
Cyprus's national debt-to-GDP ratio has fallen dramatically since 2012: from approximately 110% of GDP to 55% in 2025. While this decline reflects economic recovery following the financial crisis, the question arises whether this represents actual improvements for citizens or merely a statistical improvement.
