Cyprus and Greek banks pursue growth over interest rates after strong H1
Major Greek banks and Bank of Cyprus continue to show strong profitability, credit expansion, and high capital returns despite a gradual interest rate decline. The four systemic Greek banks achieved combined profits of approximately 2.5 billion euros in the first half of 2026, rising to around 2.8 billion euros including Bank of Cyprus.
