Cyprus and Israel Save Cacti: Biological Pest Control
Two hundred Israeli beetles have proven more effective than some diplomatic efforts. The insects, natural enemies of the cochineal scale (Dactylopius opuntiae), were brought to Cyprus by the Israeli Volcani Institute to save the cacti from this pest. This unconventional cooperation between Cyprus and Israel demonstrates the practical benefits of scientific collaboration.
