Cyprus banks recovered, but borrowers still suffering
According to an analyst at the Central Bank of Cyprus, the banking sector has recovered from the non-performing loan crisis, but outside bank balance sheets a significant private debt problem remains. Xenios Socratous from the CBC risk management area explains that the cleanup of non-performing loans has been successful. However, many borrowers are still burdened with high private debt loads.
