Cyprus becomes regional firefighting hub: Expansion of Paphos air base
President Christodoulides visited the Andreas Papaandreou air force base in Paphos and informed himself about the establishment of a regional EU firefighting center to be located there. The modernization of the base's infrastructure is part of this strategic initiative, through which Cyprus is to become the central coordination point for firefighting in the eastern Mediterranean.
