Cyprus celebrates EOKA Memorial Day on April 1st with services and parades
Cyprus commemorates today the national memorial day of April 1st, 1955 with solemn religious services and events in all cities of the free republic. President Nikos Christodoulidis and Parliament Speaker Annita Dimitriou are attending the festive service at the Apostle Barnabas Cathedral in Nicosia. The president stressed the necessity of preserving the historical significance of EOKA in collective memory and passing on its message of struggle and sacrifice to the younger generation.
