Cyprus Current Account Deficit Widens
According to Eurostat data, Cyprus recorded a larger current account deficit of 1.3 billion euros in the first quarter of 2026, compared to 0.8 billion euros in the same quarter of the previous year. This contradicts the overall EU trend, where the European Union recorded stronger foreign trade surpluses. The increased deficit signals a deterioration in Cyprus's trade balance.
