Cyprus Falls Below EU Average on Democracy Indicators
According to a report by International IDEA, Cyprus ranks among the top 40 countries globally across all four measured democratic performance indicators, but falls below the EU average in every area. Citizen participation and rule of law were identified as the weakest areas. The report is part of the Global State of Democracy 2026 analysis on democracy in the current era.
