Cyprus has lowest suicide rate in European Union
Cyprus recorded the lowest suicide mortality rate among all EU member states in 2023 with 3.5 deaths per 100,000 inhabitants, according to Eurostat data. Greece follows with 4.3 and Malta with 5.5 deaths per 100,000 inhabitants, while the EU-wide suicide rate is generally declining.
