Cyprus Landfill Crisis: Parliament Rejects Waste Tax, EU Funds Lost
The Cypriot Parliament rejected a bill to introduce a landfill tax for municipal waste on Tuesday. This results in the loss of 23 million euros in EU funding. The planned tax would have been ten euros per ton of municipal waste until the end of next year and was intended to improve waste management in Cyprus.
