Cyprus passes new asylum law following EU requirements
The Cypriot Parliament passed a new asylum law with 35 yes votes and 14 abstentions, adapting asylum regulations to the EU migration pact requirements. The law takes effect on June 12, 2026, and brings structural changes to the processing of international protection applications.
