Cyprus Records One of the Largest Debt Reductions in the EU
Cyprus had one of the strongest fiscal positions in the European Union in 2025, according to Eurostat data, with a budget surplus of 3.4 percent of GDP, while most EU member states recorded deficits. The country thus belonged to only a handful of nations that achieved a budget surplus, along with Denmark and a few other states.
