Cyprus revises earthquake zone map following lessons from South America
Cyprus has revised its earthquake zone mapping system after studying data from destructive earthquakes for a year. Seismologist Sylvana Pilidou from the Geological Survey cited the 7.4 earthquake in Colombia and the 7.2 and 7.5 magnitude earthquakes in Venezuela as important lessons for improving earthquake safety.
