Cyprus taken to EU court over waste management
The European Commission has decided to take Cyprus to the European Court of Justice. The reason is serious and systematic deficiencies in waste management and processing on the island. Approximately 21 percent of waste is currently being deposited without processing. Cyprus faces the prospect of substantial fines from the court.
