Cyprus Tightens Asylum Laws with Improved Protection Provisions
Cyprus has passed a new asylum and migration law that enters into force on June 12, 2026, replacing regulations from previous years. The law strengthens protection provisions for children and vulnerable migrants in accordance with the new EU guidelines on the migration and asylum pact. The reform addresses shortcomings in previous asylum handling and brings Cyprus in line with European standards.
