Digital Euro as Key to Europe's Independence
Leading European and Cypriot central bank officials emphasized at the April 22 meeting at the House of Europe in Brussels the growing importance of the digital euro for the European Union's strategic autonomy. Stelios Georgakis, director of payment supervision at the Central Bank of Cyprus (CBC), discussed this forward-looking financial project with senior representatives from other European central banks.
