Digital euro: ECB launches legislative process for 2029
After over a decade of preparation, the European Central Bank will become the first major Western central bank to launch a retail digital currency system. The final introduction of the digital euro is planned for 2029 and is intended to reduce the eurozone's dependence on private cryptocurrencies.
